Focus Group Research

Questions we have asked 50 individuals from our teenage target audience:
1) What kind of magazines do you read and why?
2) Do you listen to the radio? If so, what station and how much?
3) Do you watch documentaries? Do you like them, if so, why?

We chose to text these questions to our target audience as statistics show that 54% of teenagers use text messaging as a method of daily communication and that they send up to five times more text messages than adults per day.

The results so far:

1)

• Glamour and InStyle for the fashion and lifestyle content
• OK Magazine for the celebrity gossip and endorsement
• OK and Look for the gossip
• Look for the gossip and daily advice
• Kerrang and RockSound for music updates and tour dates
• Cosmo for the sex chat
• Look and OK provides a break from text books
• Fashion for the clothes
• Fashion and Look to be nosey at fashion and celebrity life
• Rock magazines because I like them
• Signwave helps me with my job
• Mountain biking and orienteering

4 respondents said they didn't listen to the radio at all.

• Choice FM all day everyday
• Heart or XFM all the time at home
• XFM all the time
• Cam Fm and Kerrang whenever I can
• Capital in the car
